RCIS’12 will offer the opportunity for demonstrations of tools related to any topic of the conference and hold a demonstration session. This demonstration session will provide a forum for researchers to showcase their work and obtain feedback on on-going research from knowledgeable conference attendees. The demonstration should report on software prototypes still in an early phase of development but that serve as a proofs of ideas of research work in progress. We specially encourage submissions by students (that is, for which a student is the first author of the demonstration).
Topics of interest
We welcome any contribution that deals with research challenges in information science. The areas of interest are the same as those listed in the technical call for papers. They include, but are not limited to:

  • Information System Engineering
  • Business applications
  • Database and Information System Integration
  • Decision Information Systems
  • Data Management
  • Internet computing
  • Knowledge Management
  • Knowledge Discovery from Data
  • Management applications
  • Spatial Information Systems
  • Software Testing
  • Human-Computer Interaction
  • Information Science in Life Sciences
Demonstration submission instructions
Demonstration proposals must be submitted as a single PDF file with no more than 2 pages. The two pages shall contain an abstract describing what is going to be demonstrated and the research content of the demonstration; it shall state the significance of the contribution to IS technologies along with the title, authors, institutional affiliations and contact information.

Submissions will be reviewed and selected proposals will be published in the RCIS’12 Conference proceedings published by IEEE.

Consequently, demonstration proposals shall follow the IEEE 2-column format (see recommendations in the technical call for papers). Demonstration abstracts that exceed the limit of 2 pages will be rejected without review.

Important dates
The deadline for demonstration submissions is 11: 59 pm EU time on February 06, 2012 (extented). Authors will be notified of acceptance by February 20, 2012. They will be instructed and asked to provide the camera-ready copy of their demonstration abstract for the 10th of March 2012.
Demonstration presentation
Authors of accepted demonstration proposals will have a chance to present their prototypes to conference attendees during a special demonstration session included in the main program. Authors of demonstrations are expected to be available to present, describe and discuss the work behind the prototype during the session. At least one of the demonstration authors must be registered at the conference and attend the session.
