Coctel | Rectorado

The Rectorate of the University of Seville is located in the former building of the Royal Tobacco Factory, an emblematic construction from the 18th century. Built between 1728 and 1770 under the supervision of military engineers Sebastián Van der Borcht, Diego Bordick, and Vicente San Martín, it was one of the largest industrial complexes in Europe at the time. After the decline of tobacco manufacturing in the 20th century, the building was adapted to house the central offices of the University of Seville. Its architecture, predominantly Baroque with Classical influences, is notable for its monumental scale and rich sculptural ornamentation. Today, the Rectorate serves not only as the administrative center of the university but also as a historic and cultural symbol of the city.
